Lancaster is the 15th best uni in the UK, according to world rankings

The uni ranked 122nd in the world in the new league table


Lancaster University has placed 122nd in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023, a yearly league table that was released today. This places it as the 15th-best university in the United Kingdom.

The university received an overall score of 60.8, which is calculated using “13 carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across four areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook” according to the table’s website.

It has a score of 38.7 in teaching, 40.0 in research, 96.6 in citations, 38.3 in industry income, and 94.9 in international outlook. Lancaster’s score has increased in all categories other than research, where it has dropped by 0.9 points.

The University of York placed 139th in the ranking, with a score of 58.4. It was joint 20th place out of all UK unis, alongside Newcastle.

Lancaster also placed 122nd in the 2022 rankings and received an overall score of 60, meaning the score has increased slightly over the past year.
