After LUSU confirmed that there will be no official Grad Ball this year, The Lancaster Tab can reveal plans to host a second unofficial Grad Ball in its place.

Lancaster Uni Graduates and TABUKI owners, Jack Purdham and Matty Allen, have announced they are currently organising a Graduate Summertime Ball following LUSU's announcement.

Grad Ball 2018 at Viva Blackpool

The last-minute Grad Ball in 2018 was a resolution to Lancs students after LUSU had to cancel the official Graduate Ball due to insufficient ticket sales, which was due to take place in the Great Hall. However, in the past the Ball had always been held at Blackpool Tower.

Jack Purdham told The Lancaster Tab,

"At the moment, we are still finalising a lot of details – plans have been in the pipeline for a while but we thought we should show our intentions"

"Our intentions are to create a night that won't be forgotten for a while!"

The previous unofficial Grad Ball was hosted at Viva Blackpool, with a Las Vegas theme including: Showgirls, a magician, casino tables, fire breathers, live DJs, live Sax and Bongo players, a live soul and funk band and TABUKI DJs.

They also managed to provide coach travel to and from the location, near to Blackpool Tower, as well as a 2-course meal on the night.

However, this year, the organisers are looking into different potential locations, but it is yet to be confirmed where the Ball will be held.

Ticket prices varied last year, with early bird prices starting at £35 and final release tickets being £40.
