TURF is to programme the main stage at Sidney Sussex May Ball, it was announced earlier this week.

The team behind some of the biggest nights in Cambridge, including Fever and the numerous Turf all-nighters, hopes to deliver “the most interesting and exciting line-up on the May Ball circuit”. If the acts playing the launch party, happening January 16th, are anything to go by, it’s bound to be one electrifying night.

“We’ve sorted out a series of artists who we think will provide one of the most exciting line-ups Cambridge has seen at a black tie event” promises Napper Tandy, the driving force behind TURF. “It’s interesting and progressive but also really accessible and suitable to the format of the May Ball and to the various punters who have all sorts of musical interests” he continues, describing it as “a fresh approach to May Ball music as something that might exist outside of a Cindies playlist.”

A Taste of Things to Come?

This is the first time Turf have done the programming for a ball, although not their first appearance on the May Week scene. Last summer saw the incredible launch of their first ever Garden Party and subsequent all-nighter, featuring huge acts such as Floating Points, Zed Bias, Dark Sky and Kahn.

Turf’s Launch Party Last Summer

A night of black tie and white hot tunes, drinking champagne to the sounds of deep deep house; Sidney’s got it sussed. Promising already to be a highlight of May Week 2014, we can’t wait.

The Sidney Sussex May Ball launch is happening on Thursday 16th at Fez.
