Trinity Tops Tompkins Table – Take Two

Trinity has topped the Tompkins Table for the second year running.

The college also beat last year’s percentage of students who were awarded a First, with a massive 37.9% of finalists graduating with top marks.

In an unusual turn, The Independent, who commission the table every year, have only published the top ten colleges, leaving the position of over two thirds of colleges undisclosed. However, The Tab can exclusively reveal the full rankings.

The highest risers are King’s, who rose from 20th to 13th, and Corpus, who move up 9 places from 12th to 3rd. Meanwhile, the steepest fallers are Magdalene (9th to 15th), and Clare, who have dropped 7 places from 4th to 11th and lost their place in the top ten.

However, the Baxter Tables, calculated by university officials and not published publicly, tell a different story, with Clare in first place. Unlike its less clandestine counterpart, these tables do not include students who are not candidates for Honours degrees, or those who have failed to gain a degree.

The Tompkins Table, which has had its methodology criticised in the past, ranks degree results by allocating 5 points for a First, 3 for a 2:1, 2 for a 2:2, and 1 for a Third.
