The Tab Blind Date: Izzy and Ryan
Did they like each other as much as they liked the Camembert?
3rd year economics student Ryan went on a blind date to The Lost and Found with final year Philosophy and Ethics student Izzy.
After sifting through nearly 150 applications The Tab match-made the lovely Izzy and Ryan. They were both looking for similar things (chatty, easy going, humour), and looked as if they’d make a good couple.
Find out how they both got on here:
Ryan on Izzy:
What made you apply for the Tab Blind Date?
Initially I was in the library with my friend Jimmy and Tej, and I was procrastinating and saw this pop up and I thought why not!
What were you expecting? Were you nervous?
I was expecting just drinks so when I turned up and there was a table reserved for us, I was a bit shocked. My beer couldn’t come sooner and I was very nervous.
What were your first impressions of Izzy?
Yeah good, she was very nice and very easy to talk to.
What did you speak about? Did you have much in common?
Anything and everything, from my family to her love of dogs.
Best thing about Izzy?
Very easy to speak to, I felt instantly comfortable.
And worst thing?
I’m not a cynical person.
Any awkward moments?
We had a joke about me not ever eating Camembert before… I thought I was a posh one!
Is Izzy your type?
I’ll take anything I can get.
Who paid?
I paid.
Would you see each other again?
I wouldn’t mind meeting up again! Whether that would be as friends or more I don’t know.

7/10.
Izzy on Ryan:
What made you apply for the Tab Blind Date?
Dissertation procrastination, wasn’t really expecting anything to come of it!
What were you expecting? Were you nervous?
I had no idea what to expect, as I’ve only done a few dates before in my entire life and never anything like a blind date before. I was quite nervous, but also looking forward to it.
What were your first impressions of Ryan?
Well dressed and friendly.
What did you speak about? Did you have much in common?
We covered a vast array of topics, all the general ‘get to know each other’ stuff. I don’t think we had loads in common but that did not impact the quality or enjoyability of the conversation
Best thing about Ryan?
He was really interesting, he had a lot of stories about travelling etc. which I liked. He was also very funny and we had a very similar sense of humour.
And worst things?
He wasn’t a big fan of dogs!
Any awkward moments?
We ordered the Camembert to share, but it turned out that despite claiming to be a cheese lover, he had no idea what a Camembert was or how to eat it.
Is he/her your ‘type’?
We got along well, but probably not my usual type.
Who paid?
He paid (but I did offer to split!)
Did you go anywhere after Lost & Found?
No, unfortunately I had work the next morning so needed an early-ish night.
Would you see each other again?
Yes, but as friends as I’m not looking for anything romantic generally right now.
Rate the date out of 10?
8.5/10 – was a very fun night and he was good company, but not the type of venue I’d usually choose!
