A Queen’s student has won High Court permission to seek a judicial review in an appeal to have his expulsion from Queen’s overturned.

This case comes after the student was excluded from Queen’s University due to his criminal convictions (which also cannot be disclosed). The student was granted anonymity following conviction due to fears of an increased suicide risk.

Mr Justice Horner granted permission for a judicial review on Wednesday, claiming that the case has some grounds for repeal based on the privacy and fair trial entitlements under the European Convention on Human Rights.
