MAFS Australia’s Rhi reveals exact moment she knew relationship with Jeff needed to end

Following news of their breakup, MAFS Australia 2025’s Rhi Disljenkovic has been sharing more details about what happened at the end of her relationship with Jeff Gobbels.

Rhi and Jeff met during the 2025 season of MAFS Australia, but in June this year it was said they had been “living apart for weeks” and their relationship had fizzled out due to a lack of effort.

Then it was reported that police had responded to an alleged assault at their home, the day before they broke up. The alleged assault incident left Rhi with “minor injuries”. However, Jeff was never arrested or charged, and has denied any wrongdoing. Police confirmed Jeff was “interviewed by police but released without charge pending summons.”

Rhi has now spoken out in a podcast interview, and explained the reason she and Jeff and ended things. She explained that she was always initiating conversations about their future, and said: “Nothing was actually happening to move forward in our relationship and make me feel like he wanted to be there. Sometimes loving someone is just not enough to stay.”

Further in the interview, on the Life Uncut podcast, Rhi said things in their relationship began to change, and she and Jeff weren’t the same as straight after being on MAFS Australia. She later realised that it wasn’t going to work out.

“At the start of [MAFS], even coming off the show, moving out, I felt lucky,” she told the hosts. “I’m like, ‘Everyone wants the love story, and I got it.’ And I would just pinch myself because I thought to myself, ‘I just can’t believe I got this.’

“As time went on, I would still receive messages about how lucky we are, and I started not to feel lucky. I started to feel like – I don’t know if fraud is the right word – but fake.

“You don’t want to have to ask your partner to act a type of way or be a type of way towards you. You want to feel that love and that genuine want to build a future.”

She went on to explain things weren’t always “bad”, just “not right”. Rhi added: “I wouldn’t say a bad relationship. Obviously, breakups can bring out the worst in people, and I feel like we definitely didn’t bring out the best in each other at the end.

“But in terms of how the relationship was as a whole, I wouldn’t call it a bad relationship, because there was a lot of good about Jeff and that’s why we were together. I wouldn’t stay in something that is terrible. But at the same time, towards the end, I was really unhappy.”

Rhi also addressed rumours of cheating, and said this could be nothing more than rumour, she’s not sure. “I guess I’m probably not ready to talk about them, if I ever will talk about it online. But there were rumours,” Rhi said.

“Not that I ever found out concrete that they were true. But I was always faithful in our relationship and it was really hard to get past those rumours. There are current rumours about me being the one that cheated on him, and that is just the biggest lie.” 

Rhi explained she is “disappointed” by how things ended with Jedd, because she “would have loved an amicable breakup” but that didn’t happen.
