Emilie Kiser is suing Arizona officials over investigation into son’s tragic drowning
The three-year-old passed away on 18th May
Influencer Emilie Kiser is now suing officials in Arizona to stop any investigation records about her son’s death from being publicly released.
Three-year-old Trigg sadly passed away in hospital on 18th May after drowning in their garden pool six days earlier. The family live in Chandler, Arizona.
A police investigation was opened to explore the circumstances surrounding the toddler’s death, but no further details have been shared.
On 27th May, the grieving mother filed a lawsuit under her maiden name, Emilie Henrichsen, to block the release of any records.
According to the lawsuit obtained by local news outlet AC Central, the influencer claimed the public won’t let her family grieve in private as she endures every parent’s worst nightmare.
The filing says Emilie is “trying her best” to be there for her other son, two-month-old Theodore, but “every day is a battle”.
It claims that the toddler’s death has wrongly become a “media frenzy” and asks for the police records and investigation details not to be disclosed publicly.
“To allow disclosure in these circumstances would be to turn Arizona’s Public Records Law into a weapon of emotional harm, rather than a tool of government transparency,” the lawsuit states.
According to the filing, more than 100 public record requests have been made with the Chandler Police Department and the Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner for information on Trigg’s death.
This includes things like the police report, body camera footage, scene photos, 911 calls and the autopsy report, which could reveal “graphic, distressing and intimate details” of the toddler’s death.
Kiser’s lawyers said releasing these records would cause the family to suffer “irreparable harm,” adding that many of the requests for information are solely for “commercial purposes”.
