‘We’ve had some fun’: Billy spills on relationship with Awhina after disastrous MAFS marriages

MAFS Australia star Billy Belcher has dished on his alleged relationship with Awhina Rutene after their less-than-ideal marriages to Sierah Swepstone and Adrian Araouzou.

MAFS has been a mess down under this season, with most of the couples seemingly combusting with a few weeks left to go.

Though they seemed to get off to a cracking start in earlier episodes, Billy and Sierah’s marriage unravelled when she refused to open up to him. Instead, she fled into the arms of Adrian. Things weren’t much better for Awhina, and even without the Sierah of it all, her relationship with Adrian was doomed from the very start. They fought in practically every episode, Adrian refused to write a letter for Awhina during confessions week, and then his former friends dug his relationship and even deeper grave in a dramatic confrontation with Awhina and her sister Cleo. In fact, Awhina had such a terrible time on the show that she outright refused to watch it with her son.

So back in February, when Billy and Awhina were pictured out and about together, most people were thrilled at the prospect of the two reality TV stars finding solace in one another’s company. Billy neither confirmed nor denied the relationship until now.

MAFS’ Billy FINALLY revealed if he’s dating Awhina

Appearing on MAFS Afterparty with Lauren Dunn this week, Billy spilled on his future reality TV plans, the theory he might be starting an OnlyFans, and his low-key connection to Awhina.

“Guys. I mean, look, me and Fia have had some fun,” he told Lauren Dunn, who was not particularly pleased by his cryptic response. “We’ve had some fun, Lauren. But we ain’t dating. We ain’t dating.”

When Lauren pushed Billy for further details, he revealed how he and Awhina were each other’s rocks during MAFS filming. They supported one another during their marriages, and naturally, that led to them putting each other in the “friend zone.”

“Me and Fia fully put each other in the friend zone from MAFS, if you know what I mean, in production. We were there for each other. So it’s not like we just watch you go through all that,” he added.

“Now I’m going to be with you. It wasn’t like that for us. It was more like when we’re coming out, we’re getting seen together a lot because we had a connection from helping each other through all the shit, if you know what I mean. So we’re close now.”

But even then, Lauren wanted more. She questioned whether he would be open to dating Awhina, and his response suggested all hope is NOT lost.

“I think everybody would. Her values are what I would look for in somebody,” he said. “I don’t want anything right now. I’m just still heartbroken from my marriage. You know what I mean?”

Awhina earlier spoke to the alleged fling with Billy, telling Nine: “Look, Billy and I are just friends! We’re very close. I kind of wanted this chapter closed before I start dating again.”
