Ex-MAFS Australia producer reveals how they find such awful people, and now it makes sense

If you’re watching MAFS Australia this year thinking, “Where do they find these people?” you’re not alone – and a former producer has revealed the answer.

The men on season 12 are walking red flags, and Alexandria Funnell says it all comes down to the types of people that want to do such an out-there show.

Speaking on TikTok, she explained: “Essentially, when it comes to casting, they start out with a pretty big pool of people.”

A lot of people want to go on the show as they think it will help them with their career, but when it comes down to the final stages, they pull out.

“A lot of regular people, when faced with contracts which basically say they have to sign away their rights in perpetuity… most people retreat at that point,” she explained.

The former MAFS producer claimed the contestants have to give away rights to their footage, their vision and voice forever, which puts many people off.

Then, who do you think they are left with? The fame-hungry people who are willing to sign away their rights – aka the walking red flags.

“Often, the people who are left are the ones who for them, the dangling nugget of fame is more important to them than preserving their self worth,” Funnell claimed.

“They think it’s worth it. It’s worth signing their life away, essentially… And no generalizations, but it’s a certain type of personality trait.”

She said a high proportion of those people have an “unstable personality” such as being a “narcissist” or having  mental “instabilities”.

It’s a common misconception that the producers want these sorts of people as they will create drama. However, that’s not actually the case.
