Jamie Lee Curtis is getting dragged for comparing the LA wildfire destruction to Gaza
‘The entire Pacific Palisades looks like Gaza’
Jamie Lee Curtis is getting dragged online after comparing the destruction of Pacific Palisades in the wake of the LA wildfires to the atrocities that have occurred in Gaza during the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Whilst doing press for her role in Gia Coppola’s new film The Last Showgirl, in which she has a supporting role alongside Pamela Anderson who plays the titular lead, Jamie Lee Curtis spoke about the LA wildfires and made a comment which compared the destruction across the Pacific Palisades region to scenes in Gaza.
“I’m born and raised in the City of Angels,” Jamie Lee Curtis said. “And the entire City of Angels is on fire. Everywhere. The entire city. The Pacific Palisades is gone. I mean, literally my neighbourhood – gone. My house tonight, is still there – but I live in a different canyon. But the entire Pacific Palisades looks like, you know, unfortunately Gaza or one of these war-torn countries where awful things have happened.
“And there are fires now breaking out everywhere, so feels totally bizarre to be talking about a movie. And yet it’s a piece of art, and art will save us.”
Jamie Lee Curtis doesn’t get enough hate in my opinion for pretending to be a peace-loving advocate for children when she posted a picture of Gazan children ducking in fear of bombs and captioned it “Israeli children” then deleted it when she realised they were Palestinian https://t.co/4rHuFMXseF pic.twitter.com/zorBTEYulJ

People online were quick to call out the comments, and also to bring up the fact that when the October 7th attacks happened in 2023 – Jamie Lee Curtis posted a picture of Palestinian children after mistakenly thinking they were from Israel. When it was called out, she deleted the post.
Jamie Lee Curtis saying the Palisades look like Gaza when she’s the same person who used a photo of a Palestinian child after being bombed and claimed it was a child in Israel??? Hell isn’t hot enough for her pic.twitter.com/fGKmy95Ds9

Another person called out the “art will save us” comment, saying “‘Art will save us no matter what'” is the exact stance that got us into this mess, when activists in the 60s decided that observing and creating about issues is the same as taking action, and now we’ve all entertained ourselves to death.”

Los Angeles, California, is battling another wildfire as celebrities and citizens in the Pacific Palisades neighbourhood are forced to flee their homes.
Videos flooding TikTok and Twitter show the ongoing wildfire which is said to be burning through a staggering five football fields a minute. At least 30,000 residents are now under a mandatory evacuation order, with surrounding neighbourhoods in Malibu and Calabasas also expected to evacuate as the fire continues to blaze.
“The Palisades Fire is burning near Palisades Drive. Those nearby should get set for a potential wildfire evacuation by gathering supplies and loved ones,” the Los Angeles Fire Department said in a statement.
As people abandon their homes, vehicles, and even pets, here are the celebrities who live in the Pacific Palisades neighbourhood.
