Here’s the sad context behind the ‘Baby there’s no plane’ TikTok sound

The sound is from an episode of The Real Housewives of Beverley Hills, where ex-cast member, Taylor Armstrong, opened up to the others about her issues.

Speaking to the others, Taylor describes how her relationship with her ex-husband, Russell Armstrong, left her struggling to pay bills and spoke about how that impacted herself and her daughter.

Russell Armstrong previously filed for bankruptcy in 2005, but had racked up $1.5 million in debt when he died in 2011. His lawyer, Ronald Richards, explained that his debt was a result of trying to maintain the lavish lifestyle shown on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

In the episode, Taylor explains: “I fought all those battles for his lies, for all this time. My daughter still goes, ‘Mommy, can we go on our plane again?’ and I’m like, ‘Baby, there’s no plane.’

Taylor starred on RHBH during its first three seasons from 2010 to 2013, and made guest appearances from 2013 to 2016.

The sound has been used widely, including to show destruction caused by the LA wildfires in before and after photos. However, fans of RHBH have also shared videos under the sound where they address the “tragic lore” behind it.
