Wait, did Netflix leak the release date for Squid Game season three? Twitter definitely thinks so

Though the bosses at Netflix have already revealed that Squid Game season three is coming in 2025, people are claiming that Netflix recently deleted a promo video that said the date is much sooner than we expected.

After the success of Squid Game season one, we had to wait three years before we saw the continuation of Seong Gi-hun’s story. Season two came out before Christmas, and though there has been some controversy looming, it’s reasonable to say it has been just as popular as the first season.

Now, after a flurry of devastating deaths and that enormous cliffhanger, we are sat waiting for season three.

Even before people had finished season two, Squid Game season three became a major talking point as both Netflix and director Hwang Dong-hyuk issued similar statements.

“I believe we will be announcing the launch date for season three soon. I probably expect that to launch around summer or fall next year,” Dong-hyuk told Variety. Similarly, in a New Year’s post, Netflix confirmed that Squid Game would be returning to the platform in 2025 alongside Wednesday and Stranger Things.

Squid Game season three is now trending on Twitter after the Netflix Korea YouTube channel allegedly uploaded a video under the name “Squid Game season three 2025 release.”

The clip was said to have shown the Red Light, Green Light robot Young-hee meeting a male robot which we understand is called Chul-soo, but in the description, the official Netflix account had allegedly listed June 27, 2025 as the official release date. I’m not saying it’s a direct confirmation, but considering people are saying the video was deleted soon after it’s certainly looking that way.

Reacting to the leak, one person wrote: “THIS EARLY?? don’t get me wrong I’m glad but I just finished watching it.”

“And absolutely nothing better happen to the old lady or the pregnant girl in s3,” someone else argued, as another person said, “The way Netflix can’t keep their own release dates secret anymore has me wondering what other shows they’re going to accidentally spoil next.”

Of course, we know that the show was initially supposed to end with season two, but it was split down the middle due to the number of ideas.

“When I first started writing… I thought it would just be season two,” the director recently told The Wrap. “But the story got longer, and because I included a lot of characters and more incidents, the episodes increased.”

Netflix has been approached for comment.
