Applications for The Tab Glasgow’s Editorial Team are now OPEN
You have until the 10th of May to apply
The Tab Glasgow is read by thousands of university students every month, and we are now looking for those keen to take on roles within the editorial team for the next academic year 2023/24.
The roles available are Editor-in-Chief, News Editor, Features Editor and Social Media Editor. We welcome applications from any student at the University of Glasgow, Strathclyde University and Glasgow Caledonian University.
Tab reporters are able to report on anything and everything related to Glasgow and the universities in the area. You’ll be breaking the biggest news stories on campus, writing feature pieces or attending fun events. The role really is what you make it.
Ideally we’d like those with some journalistic experience to apply. If you run your own blog, or perhaps have written for another student newspaper or magazine, we’d highly encourage you to send in an application. But even if you lack experience, don’t worry – we will provide full training. It is also worth mentioning that you don’t need to be in fourth year to apply for the roles. We welcome applications from all year groups.
Taking on one of these roles will certainly enhance your CV, particularly if you are keen to pursue a career within the media.

Editor-in-Chief
As Editor-in-Chief, you will oversee every article published by The Tab Glasgow. You will recruit and manage a team of contributors, helping to ensure everyone is writing something. You will also write articles, as well as receiving full training from the team at Tab HQ.
This role is ideal for someone ambitious and able to manage their time effectively.
News Editor
Most Read
You’ll be the one responsible for finding out and breaking the hottest news stories on campus. Knowing a good story when you see one is crucial to your success within the role. You’ll be writing articles every week, as well as supporting the Editor-in-Chief by editing articles.
You’ll be working on stories just like these:

- ‘It’s from the top down’: Inside Glasgow Uni Medical School’s ‘culture of misogyny’
- At least 70 Glasgow Uni students are currently homeless in the city

Features Editor
You will be responsible for writing and editing all our banging feature articles. It is crucial that you know what is happening on campus and know what sort of fun and exciting stories our readers would enjoy.
You’ll be working on stories just like these:
- What your library floor says about you
- The dos and don’ts of going to Glasgow Uni
- Going to a psychology lecture as a non-psych student felt more like therapy
- Take this quiz and we’ll tell you which Glasgow Uni you should really be at
Social Media Editor
You will be responsible for managing our Instagram and Facebook accounts, making sure our articles are presented in an appealing way.
You will need to know how to create good, eye-catching stories and posts – check our Instagram for ideas. You will also need to know all the best Glasgow and student-related memes. (If you want a career within social media or marketing, this role is perfect!)
