Smithdown Road Festival is back this year, taking place over the May bank holiday weekend (29 April – 1 May).

The team behind the event are promising a “brand new outdoor area” on the facebook event, making the festival “better than ever” with the “coming together of music, arts and good times in South Liverpool”.

There’s going to be over 160 acts playing across 15 stages including the classic Smithdown venues of Wavertree Park, The Brookhouse, Defend Vinyl, Evil Eye and Kelly’s. Music acts already booked for the Wavertree free festival include Dave McCabe and Jim Jones and the Righteous Mind along with Mark Morriss, Haarm, Tramp Attack and Son of Dave. The headliners are still to be announced.

This year’s festival is also promising the introduction of an outdoor food market, infinite wrestling, a pop-up cinema, a comedy stage and art and photo exhibitions.

As in previous years, the event is free but this year is taking place in support of The Whitechapel Centre.
