The Fighter York: Meet the fighters

York’s fittest fighters will be taking to the ring this Sunday for The Fighter. The UK’s most notorious student boxing night has put on events up and down the country and this weekend, ventures to York for the first time. The boxers have been given ten weeks of free training which will all culminate in a massive, adrenaline fuelled brawl on Sunday, in which all of their training is likely to go out the window.

The Fighter give us an array of male and female boxers ready to knock seven bells out of each other while getting their name out there in time for the gold rush.

The boozy sweat-fest will take place this Sunday in the Roger Kirk Centre. Tickets are still available.

Who would you most like to fight?

I would most like to to fight someone without any arms. But as that is not possible, I am happy fighting Ailsa, even though we have agreed that friendship means nothing in the ring.

What are you most looking forward to about the night?

I’m most looking forward to getting drunk after the fight. The drinking ban, the daily training and the clean diet is killing me. Even though I’m not really achieving that either.

Who would you like to fight the most?

I would like to be able to fight Becca as she she is a southpaw and really challenges me and makes me think. She also throws a killer jab and I laugh it off but she’s stronger than me.

What are you most looking forward to about the night?

I most looking forward to stepping up in the ring in front of all those people and proving to myself that I have the confidence and ability to be a part of something and be good at it! Win or lose I’ll be proud of myself and my friends and am looking forward to cheering everyone on and having a laugh at the end of it all.

If I could fight any celebrity it would have to be Kanye West so I could punch that smug look off his face.

Nick Partridge. I think we are similar in skill, and so it should be a solid fight.

The third round of the fight. Digging deep for that final round and pushing myself to fight on harder.
