Rugby team to be auctioned off this Friday

They’re looking to give back to the community

Friday night sees one of the biggest events in the Warwick social calendar, as members of the rugby team are going to be auctioned off in Altoria at 8pm to a salivating audience.

From interpretative dance to musical performances, sesh-sending to stripteases, these acts are as varied as they are entertaining. At the end of each act the participants are auctioned off to the spectators.

What will happen?

From interpretative dance to musical performances, sesh-sending to stripteases, these acts are as varied as they are entertaining. At the end of each act the participants are auctioned off to the spectators. Be warned: bidding can be fierce, with last year’s highest-bids hitting triple figures.

Once bought, the rugby players belong to the buyer. In the past, the players have been brought along to other sports teams’ circles, been publicly humiliated and performed domestic chores. Whether it’s out of fantasy or necessity, purchasing a rugby player is a worthwhile investment as they’ll do anything.

Every year, in the weeks leading up to the event, the participants in the slave auction create their own “Pick Me” videos and share them on Facebook. This year’s batch have already been released – take a look here.

Previous highlights

There have been many memorable performances at the rugby auctions. Highlights must include a Gary Barlow tribute act complete with back up dancers, oiled up strip teases, the Scottish national anthem played on the bagpipes while another rugby player ate some cold haggis next to him and a slightly uncoordinated performance of the Hoedown Throwdown.

Ones to watch

Peter and Ali

The night will be hosted by this dynamic duo but they’re also going to do an act, where they will be performing a song from the film that they based their video on ‘Kevin and Petty Go Large’.

Bily and Henry

This pair will be performing as frogs. If you want to see a rendition of the swamp lake, hop along onFriday as it might be toadely awesome.

Antonio, Tim, Nathan and Eliot

The quartet said they’re very organised, so they haven’t planned the actual performance yet. They are thinking of doing the dance from Mean Girls though. Apparently jingle bell rocks all year round.

Will, Alex, Charlie, Noah and Harry

The team will be performing a cheeky rendition on a well know classic song, the exact song is yet to be confirmed.

So now you’ve seen what’s on offer, make sure you don’t miss the only civil-rights-violating strip fest you’ll want to see.
