The UK’s third case of coronavirus diagnosed in Brighton

The individual did not acquire the virus in the UK


A person has been confirmed with coronavirus in Brighton.

Chris Whitty, chief medical officer for England, said: "A further patient has been tested positive for coronavirus bringing the total number of cases in the UK to three."

The patient was diagnosed in Brighton and has been transferred to an infectious disease unit in a London hospital.

Chris Whitty also stated that "robust infection control measures" were being used to prevent any further spread of the virus.

Whitty also added that the NHS was "well prepared to manage these cases and are now working quickly to identity any contacts the patient has had."

It is important to note that the individual did not acquire the virus in the UK.
