Old Steine cordoned off due to a fire in a bar

Eyewitnesses reported smoke billowing out of the building

This evening, part of Old Steine was cordoned off as four fire engines arrived outside BLOC Members Club, next to Club Revenge.

There were reports that the blaze was at Revenge itself, but the club seems unaffected as the smoke came from the next door bar, which shut down in July 2015.

According to witnesses, there were visible flames around the building as the fire engines arrived.

Henry Fulford, a Revenge regular said: 'I'm glad Revenge is ok, it's my favourite place to listen to cheesy naughties pop music'.

Nearby residents said there was no evacuation, but the road was closed from approximately 9.30pm and buses had to be diverted as a result of the incident.

The road has now reopened but there is still police presence in the area.

Updates as we get them.
