This second year will dress up as a VK every single day if he raises £500 for Movember

This is going to be mega

An American footballer at the University of Sheffield, has vowed to dress as a VK every time he leaves the house, including lectures and nights out, if he raises £500 for Movember.

Second year Rees Britt, who studies Computer Science, so far has raised £57 for the charity in just a couple of days, but has vowed to dress as everyone's favourite alcopop if he raises £500 by the end of the month.

Rees said: "As a team, we're all trying to do our bit. Movember is a charity very close to my heart, and I'm keen for lots of money to be raised."

The idea came about due to Rees' competitive side, wanting to raise more money than the rest of his teammates for the great cause. He drunkenly came up with the scheme at Roar on Wednesday, but since posting it on Facebook the idea has snowballed.

He's yet to own a VK outfit, but will most likely fashion one himself using cardboard and a ready-bought 'bottle' costume.

Overall, the Uni's American football team have already raised nearly £700 since Tuesday.

Movember is an annual event in which men are encouraged to get sponsored to grow moustaches in order to raise awareness and raise money for men's health issues. On average men die six years younger than women, and the charity provides funding to prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention, as well as raising awareness of these issues.

129 men are diagnosed each day with prostate cancer, and 75 per cent of all suicides are committed by males.
