Sheffield to launch app for independent businesses
It will work like Apple Pay
Sophie WilsonSheffield Community Technologies are launching in app for local independent businesses in January 2018. The app is called LociPay and will be similar to Apple Pay in that it allows customers to pay with their phones.
The app can also be used to save money with an option to round each purchase up to the nearest pound, with the extra change being put into a virtual "piggy bank." You will also have the option to donate change to charity.
Independent businesses make Sheffield unique and the announcement of the app comes just shortly after three Sheffield independents (Steam Yard, Abbeydale Picture House and Beanies) were nominated for the Observer Monthly Food Awards.
