Another woman has been raped in the city centre

Police patrols have now been increased

There has been another rape in the city centre.

A 24-year-old woman was attacked between 1am and 2am on Sunday 8th November.

The exact location of the attack is currently unknown, and police are supporting the victim with efforts to identify her attacker.

Two women were raped in the Arundel Gate area in October

The suspect was wearing a white T-shirt, black trousers and a black hooded zip-up jacket.

He is described as an Asian man in his 40s.

He is also described as short and of a large build with short or shaved hair, a large nose and a round face.

South Yorkshire Police’s Detective Constable Benjamin Wood said: “There may have been a number of people returning home from a night out at the time of the incident, if they have seen anything that may be linked to this incident I urge them to contact police.

“We are also keen to trace a man who helped the woman get into a taxi at the Barkers Pool taxi rank shortly before 2am.

“He is described as a white man with a bald head and aged in his 40s.”

Police are keen to stress that the incident is being treated as a priority with increased patrols now active in the area.

Anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
