Suspected Gas Leak at Trent’s Clifton Campus

Student buses diverted and roads closed as gas leak causes havoc for gutted Trenters


There has been a suspected gas leak at Nottingham Trent’s Clifton Campus.

Buses are terminating before reaching the university and Clifton Police have confirmed that the incident has occurred “just outside the University Campus.”

Clifton Lane (A453) has been closed between Farnborough Road/Fabis Drive junction to Green Lane junction, which is approximately 1000 feet from the university.

Nottingham City Transport have said they “expect severe delays on all Clifton services for the remainder of the afternoon and early evening due to the closure of the A453.”

BBC Radio Nottingham’s breakfast presenter Andy Whittaker tweeted that he “counted 6 National Grid vans at the scene of the gas leak on the A453 in Clifton. The gas escaping sounded like a mini jet engine!”
