The gay club is closing down over the summer, but will re-open after Eberle Street is regenerated.

Even though it shut briefly last year, Garlands has been open for over 20 years. The club announced this summer’s closure on its Facebook page.

Eberle street is set to be re-developed and laid with a “yellow brick road” as well as external LED lighting.

Included in these renovations is Garlands, set to be “structurally underpinned”, meaning the club will be closed over the summer, only re-opening on May 1st and for Liverpool Pride on the 30th of July.

A statement released said, “Work will commence with immediate effect and will also involve the structural under pinning of Garlands Nightclub meaning that Bank Holiday Sunday May 1 and Eberle Street Pride will be the only two events held at Garlands until after this Summer. [sic]

“Garlands and BED-Lam will then prepare themselves and you, for an incredibly, exciting re-launch. We will be showcasing new, groundbreaking Saturday Nights at the club, which will include cutting edge DJs and live acts.

“We are so excited about this new chapter in our history and can assure you that the same high standards of safety and family clubbing will be in place but with an exciting new and fresh twist. We hope that you are all just as excited as we are. After all, we need you just as much as you need us.

“The b**ch will most definitely be back!”
