Hydro ranked world’s second busiest arena

Kirsty SavageOur lively SSE Hydro on the waterfront has been ranked the second busiest arena in the world, according to Pollstar.
Finishing just behind London’s O2 and beating the likes of Madison Square Garden in New York the arena, which has only been open 15 months and boasts a 13,000 person capacity, saw over a million visitors last year to such events as Sport Personality of the Year, parts of the Commonwealth games and the MTV EMAs.
Artists from all over the world also flocked to play for the Scottish masses.
Talking to the BBC Peter Duthie, chief executive of the Hydro described the achievement as “absolutely outstanding”, saying:
“We won’t be slowing down, with over 90 performances already confirmed for 2015. The SSE Hydro is truly a world-class events venue with a world-class reputation.”
That’s fighting talk.
