Over three quarters of Exeter students think the University should hand out free attack alarms to students.
Posted on the Guild’s Student Ideas page, the majority voted in favour with the suggestion after concerns of rumoured sexual assaults in EX4.
Posts on Facebook and Yik Yak have expressed concern over rumoured incidents of sexual assault around Exeter, although the police have been unable to confirm any reports so far.
Originally posted on the Exeter University Feminist Society Page, Liz Townley’s post, about an attempted rape that was interceded by her boyfriend and one other passer by, quickly went viral as it was shared around Facebook by concerned students, in an effort to alert students and young people to the potential dangers.
In addition to this, there have also been several reports of indecent exposure around Exeter and in particular the areas populated by students.
