Second year’s roof falls in as he lays in bed

It took a week and a half to get fixed

A second year’s room has been left in tatters after his ceiling collapsed while he was in bed.

Second year Biologist Ash Wood was shocked when the ceiling of his room off Tiverton Road fell in one Sunday evening three weeks ago.

19-year-old Ash said: “There was a crack there anyway and I was going to mention it on the inventory but that Sunday it had got a lot worse.

“I went to bed at about midnight and it just fell through and made a bloody loud noise, even my neighbours heard and texted me.

“We all had a bit of a laugh because of how shit the situation was, rubble was everywhere.”

The ceiling was left broken for about a week and a half before his landlord fixed, which in November can lead to some very chilly nights.

“We went to the letting agents the next day, and they had known about it since March, but decided not to do anything about it.

“They said they’d send someone out to replaster and it took them a week and a half, it got colder and colder in my room.

“My dad’s trying to claim some compensation for it but we are yet to hear back from them.”
