Revealed: Exeter’s takeaway hygiene ratings

They’re actually very clean

Your post-lash kebab is cleaner than it’s been in years, according to Food Standards Agency (FSA) records.

Following a wave of one and two star ratings from the FSA in 2013/2014, Exeter’s takeouts have moved from the brink of illegality to the lush meadows of “generally satisfactory” and “good”.

The majority of Exeter’s fast food outlets now enjoy a four star rating.

Luanna outside of Mega Kebab

History and Spanish second year Luanna’s favourite order is cheesy chips with garlic and ketchup sauce from Mega Kebab, but she admits “Mega Kebab is probably unhygienic.”

When she found out that Mega Kebab was rated four out of five by the FSA, she was relieved.

“My soul is at peace knowing that I can enjoy my cheesy chips and wake up feeling fresh and rested because of the cleanliness.”

Second year Thaddeus also welcomed the news, he said: “That makes me happy that somebody is looking out for us.”

At the heart of Exeter’s kebab culture lies the rivalry of the neighbouring titans Best Kebab and Mega Kebab.

While Best Kebab earned a rating of one in 2014, it has now climbed to an admirable three, and staff morale is high.

Chef Bayram, when asked whether Best Kebab was truly Exeter’s top takeaway, he confidently said: “I think, yeah.”

Speaking on their rival’s success, a Mega Kebab employee said: “They have zero stars. Zero.”

Sidwells Fish & Chips and The Golden Horn have also risen dramatically, both have moved from one star to three and four respectively.

Peking House and Oriental Kitchen both earned a terrible one star rating.
