Fore Street waterslide underwhelms speed freak crowd

It looked uncomfortable

Yesterday saw Fore Street “transformed” into a giant waterslide aiming to raise funds for the Exeter Deaf Academy.

The much anticipated slide was an exclusive affair, with only around 300 sliders being chosen from thousands of applicants.

Growing up with adverts of a Slip and Slide interrupting Hey Arnold, many of us were looking forward to watching the thrills n’ spills of the larger than life slide.

Budding slidees congregated outside of the recently departed Eden Lounge, before launching themselves atop a lilo down one of the steepest hills in the city centre.

Despite being a steep hill, the sliders weren’t moving overly fast down the 300ft drop.

It appeared to be an uncomfortable experience.

Ancient History finalist Eloise was far from impressed, she said: “It was more underwhelming than the Winter Wonderland SSB”.
