Fresher Dies in First Week of Term

First year dies during the first week of his course


Exeter fresher William Maskell passed away during his first week at the University.

The 25 year old student, who was studying in the College of Life and Environmental Sciences and living at Birks Grange, was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter hospital after being taken ill on September 26. He was later pronounced dead.

The Student Guild said: “We are deeply saddened to hear of William’s death and offer our heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends.”

“The Students’ Guild support services are working closely with those of the University to ensure that students receive the support they need at this very difficult time.”
