Rainbow Gorillas Invade Exeter

Multicoloured gorillas invade the streets of Exeter

Exeter University held a competition for students to design their very own gorilla to appear on campus as part of The Great Gorillas Project last term, and the winner was Meriel Royal, who designed “Takamanda.”

The gorilla has been part of the “Great Gorillas Flotilla”, sending the colourful creatures on their way to various locations around Devon and Somerset.

The project celebrates 90 years of conservation at Paignton Zoo, and has seen a number of multicoloured animals pop up in the streets, parks and public spaces in Exeter.

“Blue Bananas”

“Skins”

“Not So Different”

“Ubuntu”

Takamanda will be on display in the Forum until 20th October.
