A talented Tiverton football player was brutally attacked outside Timepiece in May 2011. Now, he is training to run the London Marathon this year, for brain injury sufferers’ charity Headway.

Adam Faux was hospitalised for two weeks after the attack, suffering a four day coma, a broken nose and cheekbone. He returned to have metal plates fit in his head, and underwent speech therapy and physiotherapy to aid his recovery.

The attacker, Martin Edghill, was sentenced to 18 months at Exeter Crown Court for inflicting GBH.

Regarding his injuries, Adam Faux said:  “It’s been frustrating, and I’ve felt angry at times. It’s been an ongoing battle. The marathon is a personal goal but it’s also about promoting Headway and raising money for people with brain injuries.”

So next time you have a bruise from falling up the Arena stairs or an alcohol-induced headache, take a look at what Adam Faux is doing and get back on your feet; don’t go missing any 9am’s.
