MSPs evacuated from Holyrood after ‘incident’

The Scottish Parliament has been evacuated after reports that a number of suspicious packages have been found.

Police and firefighters were called to the scene at 11.35am and Parliament staff are working to assess the situation.

According to reports, a white powder package was opened in the office of Conservative MSP Jamie Halcro Johnston.

According to a Police Scotland spokesman: “Police in Edinburgh responded to the Scottish Parliament at around 11.35am on Tuesday 7th November following the discovery of a suspicious package.

“The building has been evacuated as a precaution and inquiries are continuing.”
