My main focus in journalism is news, I enjoy working on FOI's and finding new scoops and different angles on stories for The Tab

  • I am a 4th year Classical Studies student at the University of Edinburgh. I am currently working on my dissertation which focuses on Roman dining as a performance culture.
  • I am News Editor for The Tab Edinburgh and am an aspiring journalist. This is my first year in the role and I am excited to see what opportunities arise from the position and looking forward to working with a new team of writers.
  • I am hoping to apply for graduate roles after university or do a masters degree in journalism.

Experience

This is my third year doing The Tab and my first year in an editorial role. I have written numerous news stories for the publication and began doing features. I also volunteer for Politics UK which is a predominantly student run national online publication focusing on political news coming out of the UK. I have only been doing this for a few months so far and have written up some weekly news roundups for their Patreon site and am hoping to get more involved throughout this academic year. I have also been doing work experience at The Times Scotland office in Glasgow since October 2024. Here I have been working on the Alba desk which focuses on Scottish features. I have had numerous articles published with The Times including regular contributions to their Table Scraps column and Cycle of the Week Column. Additionally I have had some full length features on topics ranging from film locations and shopping. I have also done a travel piece for The Times which was a great experience and allowed me to see a new side to journalism which I had previously not had experience in.

Education

I am currently a final year student at Edinburgh University with a 2:1 grade average. I attended McLaren high school from 2016-2022 where I achieved AAAAA at higher level.
