The best places to go in Edinburgh to get your daily dog fix

There’s a reason they’re called man’s best friend

We all remember how sad we were the last time we said goodbye to our dogs, its always a *ruff* time. You might not know the next time you'll actually lay eyes on another cute pupper, and the thought scares you, right? Well worry no more fellow Edinbaes. Here's a list of all the places you can go to get your fluffy fix.

The Meadows

The meadows is undoubtedly one of the best places to find dogs in Edinburgh. A massive expanse of green parkland right in the centre of the city is essentially a massive dog playground.

You'll frequently catch owners from the more domesticated areas of Marchmont and Bruntsfield walking their lovely woofers round the meadows, throwing sticks and tennis balls. Whatever time of day you're venturing to or from uni, you're bound to see a good boy, or five.

On Campus

An unlikely place to spot some dogs, but you might occasionally see the lucky student with a dog of their own strolling around campus, like this excited one just outside 50 George Square.

Or this regal looking boy called – wait for it – bean. Stood just up the steps of Old College. What a good lil Bean.

Doghouse

Every student knows how great the Doghouse bar is, with its lively atmosphere and fab cocktails, but if you don't know what makes this place so great, you obviously haven't met the resident dog Hero.

It's also a great place to meet other local friends of Hero like this doppelganger here.

Greyfriar's Bobby

If you happen to have popped past Greyfriars Bobby today you will have noticed a lively group of Skye Terriers, gathered for a convention today by the statue of the famous bronze-nosed doggy.

Antiquary Bar, Stockbridge

This cosy old pub on St Stephen Street in Stockbridge is the perfect little getaway for those days when you need to take a break from uni, and as it's dog-friendly, it's perfect for all your dogspotting activities.

Edinburgh is a great city for finding those fluffy bundles of joy, with numerous green spaces and places to go for walks, so head out there and say hello to all these smiley happy doggos.

Why not also check out the new Chihuahua cafe thats opening up soon too while you're at it, and head out with this new knowledge of how to take the perfect break from uni.
