Durham ranked in the top 1% of unis in the world
And top 20 in the UK
Josh KaplanAccording to a new list by the Centre for World University Rankings, Durham is the 19th best uni in the UK. Beaten only by Oxbridge and a few predictable others, we’re sitting pretty near the top of a 25,000 strong table of degree awarding institutions.
Aside from being top 20 in the UK, we were also ranked 231th in the world, putting us firmly in the top 1 per cent of the world’s unis.
The ranking takes into account the usual list of factors including quality of teaching, alumni employment and academic citations as well as a score for “broad impact”.
This puts us ahead of unis like Leicester, Belfast and Warwick. Just down the road, Northumbria failed to break into the top 1000, falling outside the ranking’s boundaries.
Earlier this year, QS ranked Durham the 61st best uni in the world and the third best place to study Geography on the planet.
