Virtual bops at Emma, Movie Mondays at Churchill, and ‘Virtual Jesus’


We all need some good news in this strange new term, and so The Cambridge Tab has collated a selection of positive stories from across the University. We hope you enjoy this good news.

Wolfson Green Society hosts online sustainability talks

Wolfson College Green Society is hosting a range of sustainability-focused lecture series this term, starting with a talk by Wolfson alumnus Marie Anne Coninsx, Former EU Ambassador at Large to the Arctic, this Thursday. Find the Facebook event here.

 

Virtual bops at Emma and Robinson

Robinson held a virtual bop, and Emmanuel is planning on hosting one. Emma has also created a “Pet of the Week” photo competition, as well as the opportunity to send cards to its porters.

Catz welfare officers set up virtual welfare teas every Sunday

They’ve also set up online “Welfairies”, whereby students can anonymously send one another virtual gifts such as recipes and colouring pages.

Churchill hosts Movie Mondays and Food Fridays

Movie Mondays involve a Netflix Party session for students, and Food Fridays consists of recipes.

Homerton provides a room full of free snacks, and its choir performs virtually

Homerton JCR has stacked a room with a selection of free food for students currently living in college. The room also contains lots of free books, DVDs, and art supplies for those still at Homerton to enjoy.

“Virtual Jesus” set up at Jesus College

Jesus’s SU has set up “Virtual Jesus”, which this week involves a virtual Jesus book club, home workout exercises, and a bar quiz.

Downing JCR sets up virtual library discord server

Downing students can now access a virtual version of the college library. Students can even “sit down” at simulated desks and chat with friends via voice or video as they work together.

Robinson Music Society hosts online concerts on Fridays

Robinson College Music Society (RCMS) is hosting virtual online concerts every Friday at 6:30pm. You can watch the concerts on the RCMS Facebook page.
