Cambridge trails behind Swansea in Whatuni Student Awards

Awards Cambridge Cambridge awards durham Whatuni Student Awards

We were nominated for just one award out of nine in the Whatuni Student Choice awards.

We were beaten by UAE?! Oh boy…

From the 20,000 student reviews that make up the awards Cambridge is only shortlisted for ‘Best Job Prospects’.

The other categories include Student Support, Student Union, Clubs & Societies, City Life, University Facilities, Accommodation, Courses and Best Overall University.

This is blow for the University just days after it was placed second in the Times Higher Education World Reputation Rankings.

In contrast to The Times ranking Cambridge is seen to be lagging behind universities such as Bangor, Falmouth and Swansea, all of which are nominated for Best University.

The University of Glasgow dominates the awards with four nominations.

Second year Glasgow student Lexa Sawyer was unsurprised with its nomination for Best City Life.

I mean it’s nice and all, but I wish I went to Falmouth.

“Glasgow is one of the best and biggest cities in the UK. I’m not even sure Cambridge is a city.

Does a place with three clubs and a Wetherspoons count as a city?”

Some Cambridge students seem unimpressed with the one nomination they did win.

Medwards Fresher Mini Smith said: “Job prospects are all well and good, but they don’t seem that important when it’s half way through exam term and there’s nowhere to get drunk”

Still better than these losers…

Despite the disappointing result Cambridge can take solace from the fact that Durham has not won a single nomination.
