We’ve rounded up the best Twitter reactions from last night’s earthquake in Birmingham

No, it wasn’t your housemate just slamming the door like usual

February has not been kind to the students of UoB. First our lecturers went on strike (RIP my dissertation), then Storm Eunice devastated the bins of Selly Oak, and now, if you can believe it, we’ve experienced an earthquake.

The earthquake hit at 22:59 on February 21st, and registered at a 2.8 on the Richter scale. Although the epicentre was in Walsall, some say they felt the tremors all the way in Selly.

So just in case you missed this extreme event, we’ve rounded up some of the best Twitter reactions to the quake.

1. Twitter is nothing if not dramatic

2. Some (let’s be honest – most) people missed the earthquake entirely

3. Can I claim extenuating circumstances now?

4. Things very quickly turned political

5. Wheelie bins were targeted twice in 4 days

6. Brum received its usual (outlandish) slander

7. Climate change had some people shook

8. Surely things can only go up from here, right?

9. British sarcasm is truly unparalleled

10. It wouldn’t be Birmingham without a Peaky Blinders reference

11. Some people definitely thought it was a hoax

12. The world’s most difficult ‘spot the difference’

13. At least we have a new ‘2 truths and a lie’ fact

Stay safe Selly.
