Rat seen scuttling around Belfast KFC

More than you’d bargain bucket for

Complaints of a rat in a KFC Belfast branch have surfaced on Facebook.

The complaints were made on the KFC Facebook page after a customer, Nathan Hamilton, spotted a rat running around the restaurant floor on Saturday.

Nathan told The Tab: “I was walking past the KFC when I looked in and seen in disgust that it was running about the place. I think the staff knew about it because they had the shutters down in the seating area and the shutters at the front door were also down.

“They didn’t ask any customers to leave as they were still serving them while the customers sitting and eating inside not knowing that there was a rat in the store.”

The rat was found in KFC on Shaftesbury Square

Nathan, a banker from Belfast, saw the rat through the Shaftesbury branch window and took a photo to upload onto Facebook.

Staff were apparently aware of the rat in store

In an attempt to separate the rat from customers, staff closed the shutters around the seating area of the Shaftesbury Square restaurant.

On the page, Nathan wrote: “Chicken with a side of rat anyone!!! KFC Shaftesbury square – Belfast.”

A worker at the fast food restaurant yesterday told The Belfast Telegraph they were not allowed to comment.

Also according to the BT, a KFC spokesman said: “We take the hygiene of our restaurants extremely seriously; we are investigating this incident as a matter of the utmost importance and can confirm that the restaurant has no history of issues of this kind.”

KFC have not yet replied to the Facebook photo or contacted Nathan.
