Miss Teen Inspiration UK is coming to study at Aber this year

She won Miss Wales when she was only 16-years-old

Kyarna Weed from Tredegar, South Wales, is currently studying for her A-Levels but has gained a Business scholarship to study at Aber.

Miss Inspiration UK is a nationwide beauty pageant that not only judges contestants by their looks, but also by the actions they take to help their communities and for carrying out charity work.

Having entered the competition last December Kyarna spent four months preparing for April. Running half marathons and 10k runs she raised money for the Ieuan the Lion charity which supports terminally ill children in Wales.

Speaking to Wales Online Kyarna said: “My dad has been my sponsor for every pageant I’ve competed in. When I was interviewed for the event, I spoke about my dad at the Miss Inspiration final, talking about how he is my role model and my personal inspiration.”

She added: “My first pageant was Miss Wales, where I competed at only 16-years-old. It was from Miss Wales that my opportunities grew and I’ve competed in many pageants since then, with Miss Inspiration being my fifth one in total.

“In the final, we had to do an interview, showcase fashion wear and evening wear as well as taking part in a fitness boot camp.”

Not only did she win the UK title but Kyarna won best in fashion wear and best in interview.

Kyarna added: “I am so over the moon to have won the UK Teen title. People usually stereotype beauty queens to be untalented or uneducated where I actually have a merit scholarship to study a business degree at Aberystwyth University.

“I achieved my scholarship just two weeks before being crowned Miss Teen Inspiration UK, so this month has been overwhelming for me.”

So look out for her on campus next year and be sure to make her feel welcome. Hopefully our little Welsh town will make her feel right at home as she continues her work.
