The real reason Jamie Lynn Spears quit I’m A Celeb revealed after ‘days of crisis talks’

Yesterday it was revealed Jamie Lynn Spears had quit the I’m a Celeb jungle just over a week into her stay, and now more about the reason behind this choice has been revealed.

The US actress was first reported to have left on medical grounds, with an ITV spokesperson confirming in a statement: “Jamie Lynn Spears has left I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! on medical grounds. She’s been a fantastic campmate who has triumphed at trials and bonded well with her fellow celebrities.”

It’s since been reported Jamie Lynn “crumbled” in camp because she was missing her family so much, and bosses from the show had branded her a “flight risk” just two days in. The camp had been on “high alert” that her quitting the show was imminent.

Jamie Lynn lasted 11 days in camp, but was seen on the show saying: “I hate it here so much, I hate it, I hate it, I hate it here. This place is where people go to have the worst days of their lives.”

Jamie Lynn left camp in the early hours of Wednesday evening, Australia time. A source told The Sun: “Jamie Lynn was a flight risk from day one and while she experienced some highs, excelling in trials and forming special bonds in camp, ultimately she couldn’t get past the lows.

“Talks with logistical teams have been underway for days now, with an exit as early as Saturday mooted, then pushed back, after Jamie had a good day or so. But it proved too much and after Grace left the writing was on the wall for Jamie – it would mean she wasn’t the first one out.”

Jamie Lynn left just days after MasterChef food critic Grace Dent also left the jungle on medical grounds. It was reported after being voted for a string of trials, Grace found the pressure of the show too much and decided to leave.

It is believed that stars still receive their full fee for the show, even if they quit early. This week, it was revealed Grace Dent was paid £100k by ITV, and Jamie Lynn’s pay cheque is thought to have been £250k.
