The secret UK location that will be one of the ‘world’s safest places’ if WW3 breaks out
Can I live there?
The fear that a full blown WW3 could break out at any point is always sitting there in the back of everyone’s minds, and some places will be a lot safer than others if it does happen.
England isn’t even in the 10 safest countries to be in if war breaks out, but the UK does contain an ultra-safe location that’s often dubbed one of the “safest places on earth” in a nuclear war.
It’s called Wood Norton Hall in Evesham, Worcestershire, which is around an hour away from Birmingham, and from the outside it just looks like any old normal house. However, the Grade II listed Victorian stately home has a huge secret nuclear bunker around 80 to 100 feet underneath the Worcestershire forest, known as the Protected Area Wood Norton (PAWN).
Wood Norton Hall was bought at the star of World War II by the BBC for them to use as an emergency broadcasting centre if London was under threat. They then built the bunker in 1966 during the Cold War for use in a national emergency.

It was designed so the BBC could continue broadcasting messages to the country if there was a nuclear attack, and it’s fully equipped for a huge catastrophe that never happened. The bunker is said to be a whopping 10 stories deep and filled with broadcasting studios and emergency supplies.
The safe place was designed to house 600 people, including the prime minister, and complete with radio rooms, a canteen, a sick bay, and bedrooms. This was all revealed in 2016 documents, which showed the bunker was a huge part of the BBC’s Cold War Survival Plan.

Now, Wood Norton Hall has been turned into a hotel and the bunker is no longer used. However, it’s still there, and could provide a safe space for hundreds in the event of WW3.
