Making loads of typos on iOS 26? Video ‘proves’ there’s a glitch and you aren’t going crazy

I feel so vindicated right now

I have been feeling like I am getting old and my fingers are breaking down on me. I have clocked that my typing has gone abysmal on my phone, to the point nearly every single WhatsApp message feels like it’s got a mistake in the mix of it. I didn’t think much of this at first, except when it clocked to me that actually – I’d only been noticing this after updating to iOS 26. Again, I just wondered if it was a me thing – considering I put iOS 26 on a three year old 14 Pro Max. But then my mate messaged in the group chat asking if anyone was having difficulties with autocorrect and I suddenly felt myself screaming out YES. Yes, I am. But still, beyond these chats I wasn’t seeing it widely discussed anywhere. Until I yesterday saw a video that claims it proves there’s a glitch with the iOS 26 keyboard causing a typo epidemic and you aren’t alone!

‘I actually thought I was losing my mind’

If you’ve also clocked a lot of typos since updating to iOS 26 – then watch this video. The video claims to prove there is a bug in iOS that causes the keyboard to insert the wrong letter instead of what you’ve typed. It claims to prove this by slowing down the footage and showing that the user is pressing a different key than the one that shows up in his notes app. Whilst it’s obviously just one video and not unequivocal proof – it is extremely validating to ME personally, and many others, who thought our thumbs were to blame. Even if they are, I’m choosing THIS.

In contrast, over on Reddit, someone posted saying how they feel like the keyboard has improved a lot and their typing got better. But the replies are AGAIN validating the video saying that most users are saying they feel like their typing has got so much worse and they’re making a lot of typos.

One says “I feel like I’m making more typos and it keeps missing letters off words. It would make the haptic feedback like I’m hitting the letter but nothing would appear. It’s done it at least four times while writing this.”

More are blaming some kind of update to the autocorrect rather than the keyboard itself. Either way, it’s annoying and I hope I either get used to it or we get some clarification in a future update.
