It’s getting scary, so here are the 10 safest countries to be in if WW3 breaks out

There’s a lot of talk about World War III right now due to the conflict in Iran, and everyone is wondering which countries would be safest if a war did break out.

It comes after the US attacked three nuclear facilities in Iran, and the National Security Strategy has scarily told people in the UK to “actively prepare” for the potential of war in the “homeland”.

“For the first time in many years, we have to actively prepare for the possibility of the UK homeland coming under direct threat, potentially in a wartime scenario,” the government body warned.

“The years ahead will test the United Kingdom … The direction it takes – and the decisions we take – will reverberate through the decades.”

The prime minister revealed the UK is “moving assets” to the region to make sure we’re “in a position to protect our own interests, our personnel and our assets, and, of course, those of our allies”.

It’s impossible to say exactly who would be affected if WW3 does happen, but we can use things like the Global Peace Index and geographical location to determine which countries are the safest.

The Institute for Economics and Peace published their latest Global Peace Index results, which list the safest countries in the world based on how much conflict and violence there is.

According to this list, the 10 safest countries in the world are:

1. Iceland
2. Ireland
3. New Zealand
4. Austria
5. Switzerland
6. Singapore
7. Portugal
8. Denmark
9. Slovenia
10. Finland

These countries would also be safe based on location

However, if a world war did break out, you’d also be pretty safe if you were as far away from countries where conflict is going on as possible.

That puts places that are miles from the nearest country in the safe zone, like Antarctica, Fiji, Indonesia, Australia and Tuvalu.
