Named: The surprising celebs getting dragged for their emotional Charlie Kirk tributes
Someone tell Kristin Chenoweth she sang No One Mourns The Wicked for a reason
The response to right wing, controversial and frequently offensive Charlie Kirk being shot dead last week in Utah has been very split. Nobody advocates for gun violence and for this to have happened – and if you truly are wanting gun restrictions in the United States that still applies to those you stand against on every political matter. Even if Charlie Kirk himself stated that gun deaths were inevitable to maintain his amendment rights. But you do not have to overly grieve and feel overly sympathetic to someone you think brings a lot of harm into this world even if you condemn the horrible thing that happened. Some celebrities missed that memo, so here are the celebs being dragged by their fans who feel let down by their overly sympathetic tributes to Charlie Kirk.
Kristin Chenoweth
Kristin Chenoweth is a gay icon with an army of queer fans. Charlie Kirk was anti trans rights and anti gay marriage, and a lot of his statements are widely deemed to have been homophobic. In my opinion as a gay man, he was a homophobe. How disappointing then to see the person who originated the cast recording vocals as Glinda singing Wicked’s No One Mourns the Wicked post multiple times grieving Charlie Kirk.
I thought #KristenChenoweth was actually taking a stand on Kirk’s anti-trans rhetoric. Turns out the woman whose career has been propped up by #lgbtqcommunity adoration had to insert herself into the discourse instead of enjoying the quiet luxury of keeping her mouth shut. pic.twitter.com/NBESfF10fL

In particular, I’d like to know when Chenoweth said she “appreciates some perspectives” of Kirk’s, what perspectives those actually were.

A lot of upset has erupted after people realised Jennifer Coolidge was following Charlie Kirk on Instagram. It’s a tough pill to swallow seeing such a celebrated gay icon want the kind of content Charlie Kirk was known for to be on her social media feed.
Ashley Tisdale
High School Musical icon Ashley Tisdale posted a big story saying “24 years ago feels very different from today. Where we once were united and grieving together as a country, today we see someone die and blame his politics and opinions. Everyone in that building had different views and opinions, when we stop caring about loss of life we are done.”
Selma Blair
90s teen film icon Selma Blair seriously angered fans by calling Charlie Kirk “an incredible man”. She then said Kirk “would go into the cauldron of indoctrination and use logic to have dialogue. I am sick for his family. For all of us”. She is one of the celebs being dragged the hardest for her contribution to Charlie Kirk tributes.
Kristin Chenoweth then agreed AGAIN, doubling down on her post and saying “What you said Selma.”
David Boreanaz
Buffy fans were gutted to see David Boreanaz follow a lot of official Trump channels on social media, as well as following Charlie Kirk. Buffy was a trailblazing show for LGBTQ+ people and means a lot to us – so it’s sad to see him engaging with Kirk’s rhetoric.
