The chilling messages Charlie Kirk suspect sent his group chat just hours after the shooting
He made jokes about the death, and having a gun ‘lying around’
It’s been revealed the suspect believed to have shot Charlie Kirk exchanged a number of messages with friends after the shooting took place. Tyler Robinson was named and pictured as the suspect in the case last week.
Now, a new report from The New York Times has revealed messages Charlie Kirk’s alleged killer Tyler Robinson reportedly sent and received in a Discord group chat, just hours before his arrest. 31-year-old political activist Charlie Kirk was killed on Wednesday last week, during a speech at a Utah Valley University event.
Tyler Robinson was arrested roughly 33 hours after Charlie Kirk was shot dead. In that time, he is said to have sent a number of messages to a Discord group chat, talking about the incident. The chat is said to have had around 20 people in it.
In the messages, one person pointed out Tyler Robinson had a resemblance to the person in FBI released CCTV pictures when the suspect was first shared as a “person of interest”. Following this, Robinson is said to have joked his “doppelgänger” was trying to “get me in trouble”.
When the CCTV images were first released, someone in the chat tagged Robinson and added: “WYA” [where you at] with a skull emoji. Another person said: “Tyler killed Charlie!!!!”
We are asking for the public's help identifying this person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University.

At the time, the FBI was offering a reward of $100k for information. In further messages, Robinson joked someone from the group chat should turn him in, “only if I get a cut”. Another made a joke about Luigi Mangione, the alleged shooter of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, who was arrested in a McDonald’s. They said: “Whatever you do, don’t go to a McDonald’s anytime soon.”

Robinson allegedly replied that he “better also get rid of this manifesto and exact copy rifle I have lying around.” In other messages Robinson reportedly spoke about the ammunition used in the shooting. He is reported to have said: “I heard the ammo had somethin’ about trans stuff on it, but they aren’t releasing photos or exact quotes.”
Robinson is said to have joked he was “actually Charlie Kirk” and “wanted to get outta politics so I faked my death, now I can live out my dream life in Kansas.”
A spokesperson for Discord has confirmed the validity of the messages and the chat. Discord said in a statement shared with People: “We are deeply saddened by this tragedy and extend our condolences to the Kirk family and everyone affected.
“In the course of our investigation, we identified a Discord account associated with the suspect, but have found no evidence that the suspect planned this incident or promoted violence on Discord. The messages referenced in recent reporting about planning details do not appear to be Discord messages. These were communications between the suspect’s roommate and a friend after the shooting, where the roommate was recounting the contents of a note the suspect had left elsewhere.
“We have removed the suspect’s account for violating our off-platform behaviour policy. We strongly condemn violence of any kind, including political violence, and we will continue to coordinate closely with law enforcement.”
