Publication releases statement after writing about paying Etsy witches to curse Charlie Kirk
The story was published two days before Kirk was shot
The publication Jezebel has issued an editor’s note statement after writing an article claiming it had paid self proclaimed witches on Etsy to put a curse on right wing influencer Charlie Kirk, who yesterday was shot dead. Recently, there has been a huge boom on people buying curses from the phenomenon of the Etsy witch – someone who practices witchcraft and runs an Etsy business where they do a ritual for whatever purpose you request. The Jezebel writer put several curses on Charlie Kirk using Etsy witches and wrote about it in detail in the article just before he was shot yesterday on campus in Utah – and now there’s been a note to clarify the publication’s stance on the death.
What was said in the article?
The Jezebel article basically sums up Charlie Kirk and his views, which are extremely controversial. His stance on transgender rights, LGBTQ+ people and women have been criticised and the article basically seeks to take action in order to to silence him after Kirk personally called out Jezebel and said “Jezebel spirit has just infected an entire generation of young ladies”.
Jezebel claim in the article “I want to make it clear, I’m not calling on dark forces to cause him harm. I just want him to wake up every morning with an inexplicable zit. I want his podcast microphone to malfunction every time he hits record. I want his blue blazers to suddenly all be one size too small. I want one of his socks to always be sliding down his foot. I want his thumb to grow too big to tweet. To ruin his day with the collective feminist power of the Etsy coven would be my life’s greatest joy.”

Once consulting with the Etsy witches, Jezebel say one said they did a “POWERFUL HEX SPELL.”
The writer claims “The witch performed the hex, but her response was unsettling: “’ just completed your spell, and it was successful. You will see the first results within 2–3 weeks. However, I did notice disturbances… negative energy not only from you, but projected at you. Likely from toxic family members, co-workers, or new acquaintances.’
The Jezebel editors have added a note after Charlie Kirk was assassinated
In a new message at the top of the article, which hasn’t been taken down, Jezebel state “Editor’s Note: This story was published on September 8. Jezebel condemns the shooting of Charlie Kirk in the strongest possible terms. We do not endorse, encourage, or excuse political violence of any kind.”
