
Attention aspiring journos: Applications are open for The Exeter Tab’s 25/26 editorial team
Fancy being a journalist? Well, now’s your chance!
The Exeter Tab is officially opening applications for its 2025/26 editorial team, and we’re looking for a fresh new group of students to take the lead.
As most of our current editorial team are graduating, we’re recruiting for the roles of News Editor, Features Editor, and TikTok Editor. Whether you’re interested in breaking news, writing fun stories, or creating content for socials, this is your chance to shape the next year of The Exeter Tab.
You don’t need to have loads of experience, you just need to be a university student in Exeter who’s keen to get stuck into journalism. Training and support will be also provided by experienced journalists at The Tab HQ, so you’ll be guided every step of the way.
All we ask is that you’re able to attend and help run weekly meetings in Exeter.
Holding an editorial role at The Exeter Tab is a fantastic opportunity, offering invaluable journalism experience that can open many doors, and looks great on your CV.
You’ll also get the chance to write articles for our national site which attracts around nine million views per month, attend fun events with other Tab teams at our HQ in London, as well as receive in-depth training from qualified journalists.

News Editor

It’s important to stay informed and knowledgeable about all the latest news in Exeter by keeping your ear to the ground.
The fast-paced nature of news requires careful selection in your work, meaning when a story emerges, you need to be able to work swiftly and efficiently to get it published.
The News Editor is in charge of creating news articles for The Exeter Tab, writing every week, and assisting the Editor in Chief by editing articles.
You’ll also commission stories to writers, and occasionally help with features, if required.
You’ll be working on stories like these:
• University of Exeter students host event tackling gender bias in sport
• Freedom Society investigated by Exeter Students’ Guild following allegations of Islamophobia
• Exeter University produces booklet to help staff make courses more trans-inclusive
Features Editor
As Features Editor you will assume responsibility for The Exeter Tab’s famed features pieces. This involves commissioning, editing and writing the iconic pieces which are often amongst the most popular with our viewership.
You’ll be able to cover every aspect of student life, from nightlife to fashion and food. You will be working on pieces that cover current opinions, fun guides and witty commentary on campus life, you will also oversee the quizzes, opinion pieces, guides and other fun stories that we write. Rating outfits on campus, or arguing which Exeter club is better – as Features Editor you’ll have a keen interest in everything relevant and relatable to Exeter students.
However, the role is not simply limited to this. You will also assume more general editorial roles, such as supporting the Editor in Chief and News Editor with general editing and writing duties, as well as attending events which have student interest throughout the year in a media capacity.
You’ll be working on stories like these:

TikTok Editor
You’ll be working alongside the Social Media Editor and the other section editors to promote The Exeter Tab’s content on TikTok.
Similar to the Social Media Editor, this is a fun and creative role that requires you to have your meme culture knowledge down, ensuring The Exeter Tab stays on trend.
You should also be comfortable being in front of the camera as you will be expected to make regular vox pops and present the news articles we publish.
Experience in creating and editing TikTok content is desired.
