We asked ChatGPT to create a spring Exeter bucket list and here’s what it said

Yoga on Penny Road, anyone?

As we enter the final term of the year, we’re in for sunnier days, more trips to Impy and many awkward tan lines from spending the day on Exmouth Beach. For many of us, it’s our final term…ever. For others, it’s their first time experiencing Exeter’s term three.

So, for all graduates, freshers, postgraduates, we decided to ask our friend, ChatGPT for a “spring bucket list” to complete in Exeter before the end of the year. The answers were interesting but at least it gave us some new ideas to try out. You’re welcome.

1. ‘Picnic on the Forum Hill’

I’m not sure how this one will work given the fact that Forum Hill always has students walking up and down it. But maybe a picnic near Forum Hill? Like on the green areas by the Business School or by East Park?

2. ‘Stroll through Reed Hall Gardens’

Walking through Reed Hall is always a favourite activity of mine. Especially when I’m stressed out over assignments and need to reconnect with nature. If you haven’t gone on a hot girl walk through Reed Hall, then where have you been? It’s beautiful in the spring and even better in the summer.

3. ‘Study outside at Streatham Lake’

Again, I’m not sure where exactly ChatGPT thinks “Streatham Lake” is. But, studying outside is always a… choice? Not sure how “fun” it is but, yeah, go outside, I guess?

4. ‘Go on a “Hidden Spots of Campus” walk’

Okay, this activity is a bit vague, but I guess if you haven’t been to certain spots on campus yet, then do that. If you’ve never walked up Cardiac Hill, give it a go. Or if you’ve never visited St. Luke’s, why not give that a try?

5. ‘Hit the Exeter Quay on a sunny day’

Another favourite activity of mine, going to the Quay on a sunny day. There’s nothing better than sitting at the pub, by the Quay and people watching. You can go for a long walk around the Quayside, go to some of the cute cafes, visit The Prospect for a pint or even rent out a canoe.

6. ‘Organise a spring BBQ’

This activity will require some work but organising a BBQ with your housemates or friends is always a shout. Especially if it’s 18 plus degrees. If you have a nice garden, then your student house is automatically the place to be. Grab some picky bits from M&S and get that BBQ going.

7. ‘Yoga at sunrise at the top of Pennsylvania Hill’

This one made me laugh. I don’t think ChatGPT knows where Penny Hill is or is aware of the number of bins scattering the roads from student houses. But, if you want to give this suggestion a try, then go for it.

8. ‘Coffee crawl through Exeter’

I really like this idea. ChatGPT followed this up by suggesting local coffee shops in Exeter like Sacred Grounds, Glorious Art House and Sunset Society. This activity will be very helpful if you’re wanting to get some studying down and need a fun incentive to keep you going. Just be careful of caffeine overload.

9. ‘Open mic or pub quiz night at The Ram or The Old Firehouse’

Another great suggestion from Chat, going to an open mic or pub quiz night. I’m sure you’ve completed this already if you’re an Exeter student, but if you haven’t, then it’s a must do! Who doesn’t love a cheeky pub night at The Ram or Old Firehouse?
